Starting Point: Islamabad

Group Size: Private (2 to 8)
If you want to see the best of Swat without roughing it, this is the trip we would put you on. Over seven days you travel privately from Islamabad up the Swat Motorway into the green heart of the valley, staying in the better hotels and riverside lodges rather than roadside guesthouses. There is no shared bus and no fixed group pace. You go when you are ready, stop where the view is worth it, and let the driver handle the mountain roads.
The route is a good balance. You get the famous places (Kalam, Malam Jabba, Mahodand Lake) alongside quieter corners like Ushu Forest and the Marghazar White Palace. It suits couples, older travellers, and anyone visiting the north of Pakistan for the first time who would rather travel comfortably than count every rupee. We are a PTDC registered operator based in Karachi, and we plan every day around you.

The green centre of upper Swat at 2,100 metres, with pine forest, waterfalls and the fast Swat River running through it. Your base for two nights.

Pakistan's main ski resort at 2,800 metres. In summer you ride the chairlift and cable car for wide valley views. In winter the slopes open for skiing.

A turquoise alpine lake at 2,883 metres, reached by jeep from Kalam through some genuinely spectacular terrain. One of the prettiest and most underrated lakes in the country.

One of South Asia's finest collections of Gandhara Buddhist sculpture, covering roughly 1,200 years of history from 200 BC to 900 AD.

Old cedar and deodar fir above Kalam, quiet and cool, with easy walking trails. It is at its best in autumn when the light turns gold.

A white marble summer palace built by the Wali of Swat in the 1940s, set against green hills and a mountain stream. A peaceful, photogenic stop.

We pick you up in Islamabad and drive up the Swat Motorway, roughly 4 to 5 hours on good roads. After a stop for lunch in the valley, we continue up to Malam Jabba and check into your resort for the evening. Time to settle in and enjoy the mountain air.
A morning on the chairlift and cable car with wide views over the valley, plus the summer activities if you fancy them. In the afternoon we drive down to Mingora, visit Fizagat Park by the river, and settle into your hotel.
A cultural day. We start at the Swat Museum, one of the best Gandhara collections anywhere, then walk the Butkara Stupa site nearby. In the afternoon we drive up to the Marghazar White Palace, the old summer residence of the Wali of Swat.
We follow the Swat River north, stopping at Bahrain, the liveliest bazaar town in the valley, for tea and a look at the riverside market. Then on to Kalam, where you check into a riverside lodge for two nights.
The highlight of the trip for many guests. We swap to a jeep and head up the rough but scenic track above Kalam to Mahodand Lake, about 40 km of mountains, meadows and river crossings. Time by the water before returning to Kalam for the evening.
A gentler day. A morning walk in the ancient Ushu Forest above Kalam, then the rest of the day is yours. Sit by the river, wander the bazaar, or just rest. We keep this day flexible on purpose.
We make the drive back down the valley and along the motorway to Islamabad, with photo stops along the way. We aim to have you back by early evening.

A well appointed resort with mountain views, proper heating, private dining and easy access to the chairlift and slopes. One night here on the way up.

The best lodges in upper Swat sit right beside the river. You fall asleep to the sound of the water, wake to mountain views, and eat good local food. Two nights.

A comfortable, well run hotel in lower Swat for your first and last nights, close to the museum, the bazaar and the motorway exit.
Spring green. The valley is lush, the rivers are full, and the weather is mild. A lovely time to travel, with fewer crowds than peak summer.
Peak summer and the best window for Kalam, Mahodand Lake and the upper valley, since the jeep tracks are fully open. Book ahead as this is high season.
Snow across the valley and skiing at Malam Jabba. Beautiful, but the upper roads to Mahodand close. Good for a winter and Malam Jabba focused trip.

An easy, comfortable introduction to northern Pakistan, with none of the rough roads you get further north.

Riverside lodges, quiet forests and mountain views make Swat a relaxed and romantic choice.

Green valleys, the Swat River, Mahodand Lake and old Buddhist sites give you a lot of range in a small area.

Good hotels, a private vehicle and a driver who knows the roads, so you can relax and enjoy the scenery.

Yes. This is one of our gentler northern trips. The roads are good, the hotels are comfortable, and the only rough section is the jeep track to Mahodand Lake, which is optional if you would rather rest in Kalam that day.
Swat is greener, lower and easier to reach. Where Hunza and Skardu are about high, dramatic mountains and long drives, Swat is about lush valleys, rivers, forests and Buddhist history. It is a softer introduction to the north.
Yes. Swat produces some of the finest emeralds in the world, and the bazaars in Mingora have genuine stones at prices well below international markets. We can point you to trusted dealers, though the buying is up to you.
Of course. We can add Gabral Valley, extend your time in Kalam, combine Swat with Kumrat or Naran, or upgrade specific hotels. Message us on WhatsApp at +92 314 814 8469 and we will shape it around you.
