Most travellers reach Skardu from Islamabad, either on a direct flight of about an hour or by road over two days via the Karakoram Highway. Flights save time but depend on clear weather, so we recommend a buffer day, or flying one way and driving the other. Travellers from Lahore, Karachi or abroad usually connect through Islamabad.
