The Islamabad to Skardu route threads between some of the highest mountains on earth, and pilots need clear visibility for the approach into the valley. When cloud or strong wind sits over the ranges, flights are delayed or cancelled, sometimes only minutes before departure.

Never plan your Skardu return flight within 48 hours of your international flight home. If the last Skardu flight is cancelled, you need enough time to drive back to Islamabad, which takes two days.
